Privacy and data processing

This is a translation of the French privacy page. The French version prevails.

Cookies and storage

This website sets no cookie, writes nothing to your browser’s storage, and loads nothing from a third party: its fonts, its images and the audience measurement script come from the publisher’s own servers. There is therefore no banner to accept.

What is processed when you visit

To show a page, your browser sends a request: your IP address, the page asked for, the page you came from and your browser’s name. It travels through the host’s network equipment to the website’s server, which answers it. Nothing more is asked for or inferred.

The server keeps a log of these requests, to understand an error: the date, the page asked for, the response, the referring page and the browser’s name. It does not write your IP address. The log therefore does not identify you; it is erased each time the server is replaced, with every new version of the website.

Audience measurement

To learn which pages are useful, each page view is counted by Umami, an audience measurement tool installed on the publisher’s own servers, at audience.ssk-it.fr. The script sends the page address — without anything after a ? or a # —, its title, the page you came from, your browser’s language and your screen size.

Umami derives from it the browser, the operating system, the type of device and the country, and groups the pages of one visit under a computed fingerprint that changes every month. It does not record your IP address, sets no cookie, and does not follow you from one website to another: it only produces statistics.

These statistics are kept for 25 months, then deleted. If your browser asks not to be tracked (Do Not Track), no page is counted.

Why, and on what basis

To serve the pages you ask for, keep the website working, and learn which pages are useful. This is the publisher’s legitimate interest in presenting its product; audience measurement stays within what the CNIL, the French data protection authority, allows without consent, and nothing is used for any other purpose.

Who receives this data

SSK IT, and its host, OVH SAS, whose infrastructure carries the requests and hosts the website’s server and the audience measurement server, in France. No one else.

Links to the Skanon web version and to its source on GitHub lead off this website: what those services process falls under their own policies. The web version’s help says what it keeps on your device.

Your rights

You may ask for access to the data that concerns you, its correction, its erasure, or object to its processing, by writing to the address below. If the answer does not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
